Working with communities
Education in schools can be improved only if the community begins to take an active interest in what is happening in the school. Village Education Committees (VECs), Parents Teachers Associations (PTAs), youth and other concerned citizens need to interact more closely with the school, influencing what is taught in the classroom and monitoring how teaching is done.
Eklavya works with community level organisations and local youth in running learning centres, student clubs and other forums in which students can improve their academic performance and also develop their leadership and creative abilities.
It also organises a host of extra-curricular activities like bal-melas and workshops, libraries etc for students as well as for those children and youth who do not have a history of interacting with the school system.
